Adolfo Vidal


Vidal has been hailed as an "exciting and compelling pianist” and his playing praised for his “musical and effortless virtuosity.” Selected performances have been broadcast on Radio and TV, such as WQXR New York and WLRN Public Television in Miami. He has pursued an international career as a pianist, performing solo, chamber, with orchestra, and Festivals in North and South America and Europe. Adolfo Vidal began piano studies in his native Venezuela and continued in the United States and Canada under the instruction of Andre Laplante, Marietta Orlov, Kemal Gekic and JB Floyd.

Vidal started music lessons at the age of five under ‘El Sistema’ (Venezuelan Youth Orchestras and Instrumental Training Program System) with French pianist Gerard Bourgogne. Further music studies and piano diplomas were completed at age nineteen at the Maracaibo Music Conservatory under the Russian pianist Mikhail Antoshin, and with Igor Lavrov and Stanislav Pochekin in Caracas. There, he was a prizewinner of several national piano competitions.

Since 1996, Vidal made the US his home and became an American citizen. He holds B.Mus, M. Mus, Artist Diploma and DMA degrees from FIU, the Glenn Gould Professional School of the Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto, and the University of Miami, where he also studied with Susan Starr, Gordon Roberts, and played frequent masterclasses for pianists Roberta Rust, John Perry and Robert McDonald. Other masterclasses include Arthur Pizarro, Boris Berezovski, Vladimir Feltsman, Claude Frank, Julian Martin and Alan Walker, among others.

Vidal often collaborates with renown artists from all over the world and is the piano staff accompanist at FIU School of Music. In addition of being an active performer, Adolfo devotes a lot of his time as an arts-preneur. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of South Florida Friends of Classical Music, founding and managing the Miami International Music Academy, the Miami Chamber Orchestra, Summer in Florence, The Teresa Carreño International Master Piano Competition and the Miami Music Festival from around the World.
