Miguel Pagua, Ensemble 7/4


Pagua was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. He began his musical studies when he was only one-and-a-half years old. In 1995, he joined the Vicente Emilio Sojo Conservatory of Music and, the following year, he began to study percussion with Professor Alejandro Briceño, and continued later with maestro Antonio González. In 1998, he joined, as a percussionist, El Sistema’s Doralisa de Medina Children’s Orchestra, where he played under the baton of maestros Héctor Gutiérrez and Luis Orlando Giménez. In 2000, he became a founding member of the Little Mozarts Children‘s Orchestra. Then, he joined various ensembles such as the Youth Orchestra of Lara, with which he toured Venezuela, Portugal (2008) and Spain (2009).

In 2007, he developed an interest in orchestral and choral conducting, which led him to study with maestro Miguel Angel Monroy in 2008 and professor Libia Gómez in 2009. He guest conducted the Little Mozarts Children‘s Orchestra and the Arturo Santana Pimentel International Youth Orchestra. In 2009 and 2010 he served as musical director of the ‘White Christmas’ Musical. Pagua is the principal conductor of the Children’s Percussion Ensemble of Lara and the Little Mozarts Children‘s Orchestra’s Percussion Ensemble. He is also a member of the percussion section of the Youth Orchestra of Lara and the Lara Symphony Orchestra. He is currently doing a university degree in Music Education at UPEL–IPB.
